All-NYC World Series Begins, on the radio too
One hundred years ago today… The first game of the first all-NYC World Series was played at the Polo Grounds.
Below is a photo of Mike McNally stealing home in the 5th inning.:
Video footage from the series is available thanks to YouTube user Historycomestolife. The film shows the crowds entering and exiting the Polo Grounds, and Babe Ruth driving in the game’s first run.
That must have pleased this crew:
The game was the first W.S. game to be broadcast on the radio, courtesy of Newark’s WJZ radio. Listen to Audacy’s podcast episode here.
