“Pack Up Your Sins and Go To the Devil

One hundred years ago today … The house orchestra at Columbia Records, for the moment named the Columbians Dance Orchestra De Luxe, recorded “Pack Up Your Sins and Go To the Devil,” composed by Irving Berlin. Listen to it here..

Likely led by Charles Prince, the recording was done at the Columbia Studios in the Woolworth Building, whose publicity machine told listeners that “the stone-walled studios on the ground floor had unrivalled [sic] acoustics.
