Columbia University graduation
One hundred years ago today … Columbia University held its 165th annual commencement, on its Morningside Heights campus between Broadway and Amsterdam Avenue, between 114th and 120th Streets.
The graduates were to muster in Earl Hall, the subject of this ca. 1920 postcard image:
The weekly Columbia Daily Spectator outlined the graduation plans.
The Daily News also previewed the events, though it missed the part about how non-seniors were (according to the Spectator) not invited.
(Note: we previously featured Columbia when reporting on activities of students at its all-women college, Barnard, for our February 6 post.)
These three postcards of Columbia University buildings, dated 1920, were printed by “the Pictorial Company,” 40 Flatbush Avenue Extension, Brooklyn.
