One hundred years ago today … The news was out; Doraldina had left New York for Hollywood.

Doraldina was the stage name of Dora Saunders, a Californian who had made herself a star in New York by forging an identity as a dancer of Hawaiian dance styles.

Earlier in 1920, her departure from “The Frivolities” had made news.

Doraldina seems not to have organized “her own movie company.” In Los Angeles, she went to work for Metro Pictures, starring in A Woman Untamed, which came out that summer.

The movie barely got a mention in the New York media, and does not seem to have played in the city in 1920.
