Another All-NYC World Series

1922 World Series Program. Wikicommons.

One hundred years ago today .. The New York Giants beat the New York Yankees 5 to 3, thus wrapping up a World Series victory in six games (Giants 4, Yankees 1, with 1 tie). The second all-NYC World Series in a row (and ever), these games marked the last time that the Polo Grounds, at 155th Street along the Harlem River, would serve as the home park for both teams, as the Yankees would end their tenancy and move across the river into the brand-new Yankee Stadium the following season.

New York Herald Tribune, 9 October 1922, p. 11.

The Daily News employed a blimp, “Big Bertha,” to take aerial photographs of the games.
